(and for the record I hate DRM too, but its a silly CD check of all things. I have most of those burning programs on here too and it works just fine and peachy, but people hear SecuROM and freaaaaak out without even knowing there's different types of it that don't include the rootkit or anything at all.)

I hate all SecuROMS and everything that requires me to uninstall nero's or play WITH cd/dvd. Because if I forget where I put it, I can't play. And from hdd, it's much faster to launch/install than from CD/DvD.

So basically you refuse to play anything from the 90s because they all required the disk to be in the CD drive?

A) It doesn't do anything with Nero, I have it on my PC running and it was running while I installed the game. It doesn't care about those things, it's not that type of SecuROM

B) It doesn't load from the disk at all, it just checks for it in the CD drive just like every single game from the 90s pretty much. If you lose a case and a disk, it's your fault for not being organized.

If you don't want to deal with disks, get it off of Steam then.

A) Lucky for you, I encountered problems with some games that "detected emulating software" (Daemon Tools) and I had to use a...crack to make them work.

B) Every single game from 90s? I think there is a lot of games not requiring cd's or can be emulated without problems (Diablo 2, that since 2005 hasn't left my HDD even for a second - image of cd's, that is).

And not every game is available at Steam. Some of them, yeah.

But then again, not everyone has T3+ net (I do, thankfully - pre-loading Portal in 30 minutes ftw) or access to net around the clock (yeah, love those problems about which nobody knows anything). Steam IS good, I love it, just wish there were more games supported.

Well Fallout 3 is on Steam and doesn't have the CD Check (obviously), I had no problems with it, and most of the games in the 90s did require a CD in the drive! (and I didn't use the Steam version of FO3 tho.)

"oh its just like oblivion"....duh its made by bethesda...moving on now, this game is sick! from the very creative character creation process, to the first time you see daylight outside the vault...this game is very well done. targeting system is a blast, and the post apoc theme is to die for. this game is a must have.

next on the bar-b resistance 2. i had an open beta for it last week and the 60 man online was a barrel of fun. cant wait to play 1 player story mode.

hmm it might be a good idea to save up pop can tabs and bottle caps from now on.

There are a few different ways that it could "feel" like another game.

For example: Mass Effect feels like a Bioware game because of the in-depth characters, involved main character, and well-layered storyline.

Not pointing at any one person because I don't want to seem like I'm shooting at anybody but some posts in here made me rant.

I bought the PC version and the securom is a tiny little CD check. Not a problem at all and no reason to say the best way to get the game is to pirate. People cracked the game the day it came out because all they had to do was make the CD check go away with a hacked .exe..... You can still do that after buying the game, if that CD check is such a big concern.

I sure as hell hope that Bethesda keeps to their current security method because a CD check is a far cry from these other types of security that allow you a limited install and then you have to call the gaming pope or some bullcrap... plus all the other issues involved there. I can see people hating the rediculous security features of games like Spore, but a Cd check is nothing. Id prefer it wasn't there but I haven't had a CD check eat my computer or make me call the minister of gaming yet. Dammit, I wish Spore only had a CD check.... or BioShock.... etc...

Really this game is worth the cash and buying it supports the development of other games and I would like to see them expand so they can better develop more Fallout and Elder Scrolls titles. I think Bethesda is still learning and I'm interested to see what they'll create in the not too distant future.

Fallout 3 is a really fun ride. I'm glad I bought it.

i couldn't/can't get into fallout 3. i don't really know why. i LOVE oblivion and still play it. i think the biggest turnoff for me was actually the guns. one thing i hate is finding ammo or having to buy it. hate hate hate that. i even love the concept of the game, the graphics are great, but man, just isn't for me.

i also spent a lot of time just roaming around in nowheresville to try to level up but could never find any easy monsters. maybe i should have turned the difficulty down? lol. ps i torrented it so i didn't pay for it. kill me. but glad that i just didn't pluck down the money to buy it.

Wait, you love the concept of postapocalyptic world, where people struggle to live, but you are mad about having to find ammo? EVERYONE has to go through that stage.

You should watch Yahtzee Croshaw's review of Fallout 3. He's not lying, at level 4 you can have craploads of money if you know how.
